Artist Lecture: Crystal Wagner

The Joseloff Gallery is thrilled to host artist Crystal Wagner who will give a public lecture on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 3 p.m. in the Wilde Auditorium as part of the International Distinguished Artists Symposium and Exhibition, Somewhere Between Creation and Destruction.
This lecture is free and open to the public. The Wilde Auditorium is located on the ground level of the Harry Jack Gray Center, across the lawn from the Joseloff Gallery. Free parking can be found in the visitor section of D-lot, behind the Harry Jack Gray Center. Handicapped parking is available directly to the rear of the Harry Jack Gray Center. Crystal Wagner received her MFA from the University of Tennessee in 2008, her BFA from the Atlanta College of Art in 2004, and her AFA from Keystone College in 2002. She is represented by Hashimoto Contemporary, San Francisco, CA.
Wagner’s interest in combining 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional forms, alternative use of materials, and hybrid approaches to printmaking, and massive site-specific installations, have led to her artwork being exhibited extensively. Her exhibition schedule has her actively growing large-scale installations all over the United States. This year she will have installations and work at Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco, CA; Scope Art Fair during Art Basel Miami in Miami Beach, FL; Texas Tech University in Lubbock TX; Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN; McClelland International Sculpture Exhibition, Australia; Grand Rapids Michigan at the Urban Institute of Contemporary Art, ArtPrize 2014, Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY; and abroad at the P/M Gallery in Toronto, Canada. Her installations have been featured at both the Southern Graphics Council International Conference and the Mid-American Print Council Conference.

This year she was the recipient of an Awesome Without Borders, Awesome Foundation Art Grant and most recently she was the Scultpure and Installation Category Award Winner of the SEE.ME, Art Takes Paris, international art competition.
Crystal Wagner actively visits colleges as a visiting artist. In 2014/2015, you can find her at the University of Iowa, University of South Carolina, University of Hawaii, Southeastern Missouri State University, and Syracuse University.
